HFF stands for High Gear Contracting Ltd and First Rate Oilfield Services Inc. The companies have come together to be able to provide a full range of services for the oil patch.
High Gear was formed in 1998 by Jamey and Denise Morgan. It started out by renting one wheeled loader for drilling rigs. In 1999, we bought our first water truck and partnered with Dan Ireland, who came in to run the water truck. Over the years we have grown modestly, and we have worked hard to maintain our small company culture. Our company is like a family.
Our goal has always been to create long-term relationships with our employees, customers, community and others in the industry. Our objective has always been to provide superior service at a fair price, in good times and in challenging times. We believe this has helped us become respected in the industry and community, and we truly take great pride in the relationships we have with our customers. One of the keys to our success has been our ability to adapt to our customers’ needs. Over the years we have developed a comprehensive safety program and have worked on many successful projects all over Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.
We are a proud member and supporter of the community. We have been a regular supporter of kids’ sports teams and 4-H program, as well as supporting local Oilman’s functions.
In 2010, Dan retired from High Gear, and Jamey and Denise took a more active role in the company. Since then, High Gear has expanded its services. In 2014 First Rate Oilfield was formed with partner Dustin Pierlot, and we purchased our first oil tanker. Dustin is the driving force in this business unit and is eager to build his business.
The first vacuum truck was bought in 2015 and quickly grew to a fleet of 3 trucks.
In 2018, we are continuing to grow and have rebranded ourselves as HFF (High Gear and First Rate, Fleet. The two companies work together to provide a full array of services, but each of them has its own manager and dispatcher. We felt this was the best way to serve our customers with people specializing in each service type, while working together to offer one-stop shopping.
Currently HFF has 14 water trucks, 15 tankers and 3 vacuum trucks as well as a few rentals. We are excited for what the future has in store, and are working hard to create a long-term strategy, while continuing to exceed the expectations of our customers.
